Fashion for plus size women is just as important as it is for SML women, but unfortunately the world might not think so. Many plus size women find themselves dressing to fit their size and not their personality. What do you do when you are a fashionable big girl living in a skinny world of fashion. Well, there is not much you can do but move on to find something that will actually fit you and 9/10 it’s not all that. Many plus sized women find themselves stuck in the usual jeans and a blouse look. Attitudes within the fashion world towards fashion for plus size women have always been negative. Society tells them to always dress their size, this means don’t wear anything tight, don’t show us any body fat, tuck your hooters away and never come out in anything above the knee!

Now how messed up is this world, no matter your size, it’s important to feel good about yourself and if a woman looks good in something, i believe she should wear it! Designers say typically there is little demand for larger sizes, but i think that is ridiculous there are plenty of big girls wishing they had better choices. There is a potentially huge market for plus-sized fashion that is not being met. When you go into even the department stores plus sized clothing probably takes up 10% of the sales floor. This goes to show the selection is very limited and let’s not forget how boring some of this stuff looks. Why should anyone assume that just because a woman is plus sized she doesn’t care about fashion. It’s hard for a big girl to dress cute. Many blogs just like yours seem to cater to smaller framed women. It is so frustrating when you post something cute then i click and there is nothing in my size. I am  a fashionable person and i love feeling sexy, but it is forbidden for girls my size to wear certain things. Many designers simply won’t even go there, so i get stuck shopping in the plus size section at stores like Macy’s or Sears, Uggh! I need more options!! I’m tired of dressing fat. I want clothes that fit my personality. Why can’t i be couture?

It is definitely true that it is hard for plus sized women to find the same chic trends available to skinny women. I personally do not intentionally post with skinny girls in mind, many stores stop at a US size 14 and these sizes are usually limited, so they get sold out fast. Currently, many designers do not produce plus size clothing because they say that it is harder to create clothes for larger women. Marc Jacobs is said to be one of the first major fashion designers set to produce a clothing line catering to women bigger than a size 14.

However, i find that there are a growing number of online stores with great fashion for plus size women.

Stores like Fashionbug and Ashley Stewart are a top fav of my mine. They carry plus size clothing for every budget for women size 12 to 32. These are current trends fit for any fashionista.
