So,it seems this year has seen stars rise and fall, everybody wants to dominate the air waves and sometimes they take it too far. Did you guys hear about all the celebrities getting banned for either false advertisement or their rated R campaigns. Celebs like Beyonce, Rihanna, Dakota Fanning and even Taylor Swift all made the top banned celebrity ads list…get the scoop.
The National Advertising Division has banned Taylor Swift‘s CoverGirl mascara print ad in the United States because of excessive Photoshopping, Business Insider reports.
According the NAD, the ad for CoverGirl NatureLuxe Mousse Mascara made “superior performance claims,” such as “2X more volume” and “20 percent lighter,” that could not be substantiated.
Procter & Gamble, the parent company of CoverGirl, did have a disclaimer in fine print in the ad that said Swift’s lashes were “enhanced in post production,” but that wasn’t enough to appease the NAD, which was “particularly troubled” by the final product.
You can’t use a photograph to demonstrate how a cosmetic will look after it is applied to a woman’s face and then – in the mice type – have a disclosure that says ‘OK, not really,” NAD Director Andrea Levine said.
The ruling is the first major one by the NAD, which is following in the footsteps of the U.K.’s Advertising Standards Authority in cracking down on beauty ads that are misleading consumers.
Britain’s ban-happy media blocked Dakota Fanning’s latest ad for Marc Jacobs‘ latest fragrance, after declaring it too “sexually provocative” an image.
They made the decision after deciding that the imagery was inappropriate and receiving complaints about the ad. Could it be the big perfume bottle in her crotch!!

Beyoncé‘s fragrance Heat Ad
A commercial for Beyoncé‘s fragrance Heat proved to be too hot for some in the U.K. who thought kids should not be exposed to the sight of the singer slinking around in a revealing red dress during their daytime TV viewing.
“Beyoncé’s body movements and the camera’s prolonged focus on shots of her dress slipping away to partially expose her breasts created a sexually provocative ad that was unsuitable to be seen by young children,” stated the Advertising Standards Authority.
As a result, the ad was subsequently shown only in the evenings.
